Matthew Janda - Applications of NLHE

Nouveau bouquin sur le NLHE 6max intitulé « Applications of No-Limit Hold 'em ». L’auteur est Matthew Janda, un coach sur Cardrunners qui publie quasi exclusivement des vidéos sur la théorie du poker. Je viens de commencer la lecture; c’est du très solide et le prix est raisonnable (32 € pour 500 pages au layout standard de 2+2). Voici le lien vers le 2+2 thread

Difficile de donner plus de détails; je viens tout juste de commencer à lire le bouquin. Lire n’est un fait pas le mot exact; il faut travailler; ça parle beaucoup de ranges, de flop texture, EV, equity, etc. Janda est un fan de Flopzilla (superbe logiciel pour évaluer une main face à un range adverse); ça te donne un peu la direction du livre … Voici le sommaire; il y a 500 pages à travailler:

faut vraiment que je me met à l’English ^^ il ma l’air bon ce bouquin

C une énorme nuts, j’ai jamais été retourné par un bouquin de poker avant. En fait jles ai tous trouvé nuls, a part easy game et let there be range.

Mais ça c du jamais vu. Après je préviens, c ultra théorique, et ça ne s’intéresse qu’a calculer des exemples de ranges inexploitazbles ds toutes les situations. Par trop utile à part contre des excellent joueurs, mais ça permet de regarder les choses autrement, et ça démonte pas mal de préjugés aussi…

Pas de version française prévue donc? Un traducteur PA qui s’y colle? :smiley: allez, pour le bien de la communauté!

Jadupsky, tu as pu assimiler ce pavé, qu’est-ce que le livre t’as apporté concrètement ?

Je vais eesayer de lire ce livre, mais 500 pages en anglais avec des concepts et des formules mathématiques ardus, j’espère que ma motivation ne va pas trop vite s’émousser…

A part être prof de Cardrunners, à quelles limites joue l’auteur ?

Je confirme également, nuts absolues à condition d’y mettre le temps me concernant. En caricaturant un peu, l’auteur part de la base que nous sommes tous des bots qui jouons des ranges parfaitement équilibrés contre des adversaires faisant de même… Il faut donc s’adapter ensuite aux tables suivant la limite où on joue ce qui promet certains mauvais plays (mais bon, progresser coûte de l’argent). Ne t’attends pas à des conseils du type : “quand un fish fait ça, ça veut dire ça…”.

Honnêtement, la plupart des maths utilisées dans ce bouquin c’est niveau 6ème à part quelques exceptions notamment quand il s’amuse à utiliser des dérivés pour le sizing optimal à la river…L’anglais est basique également, je suis loin d’être bilingue mais avec un petit dico à côté ça passe. Par contre je l’ai commandé en version papier, plus pratique pour prendre des notes, mettre les traductions dans la marge, etc.

En tout cas attends-toi à t’en prendre plein la tête :slight_smile:

Déjà premier chapitre “Understanding equity” une erreur : il montre un flop Kh7c3h pour évoquer les équités comparables de 66 et 8h9h
Sauf que évidemment si le flop contient 2 coeurs l’équité de 8h9h est énorme. Il y a donc une erreur graphique, ça doit être le 3 de carreau et non pas le 3 de coeur.
Je l’ai commencé en version epub pour Adobe Digital Editions, mais le menu dans la marge est plein de superpositions qui rendent la navigation un peu pourrie.
J’ai l’impression qu’il y a des updates : est-ce que tu en sais plus sur le sujet (malheureusment avec la version papier pour toi ça va pas le faire) ?
Notamment j’ai cru voir sur 2+2 des corrections de chiffres qui ont été faites par la suite.

Oui je peux pas te dire à ce sujet, juste qu’il y un thread sur 2+2 sur le sujet, j’ai pas encore eu le courage de m’y mettre perso :wink:

Le livre promet d’être passionnant c’est clair.

Justement je m’étais arrêté sur le terme.
Tu sais que ça vient de “feel”, ressentir.
On trouve le “feeler bet”, sorte de bet pour info, pour tâter le terrain.
Alors ici le felting range quand il s’agit d’un range de call ? Comment le traduire ?
C’est le range qui call selon une fréquence optimale de façon à ce que ça ne devienne pas pour toi profitable de bluff any 2 cards. Felting range, le range qui call pour info en quelque sorte ? Le range qui tâte le terrain du bet adverse ?

[Edit : ah non, je m’aperçois qu’il y a bcp d’autres occurences de l’expression “Felting range”]

Alors felting range, il faudrait que je relise, mais les termes “info”, “tâter”, ça fait pas très vocabulaire jandaien. Je crois que j’avais traduit par “range restante”, il faudrait que je revois une page mais bien sûr c’est le moment où j’en trouve pas.

Sinon un autre truc à faire attention, c’est la distinction entre la range du flop, et la portion de la range au flop qui va jusqu’à la river. Par exemple parfois il va te dire que 30 % de la range au flop doit payer mais c’est sous entendu 30 % jusqu’à la river tandis qu’on paye par exemple 60 % “brut” au flop. Bon y’a ptet que moi qui ait fait la confusion vu mon niveau d’anglais mais bon ça coûte rien de le dire.

ça serait pas mal de regarder si on la même pagination (pour de futures remarques)…
Par exemple page 29 j’ai Make indifferent your opponent to bluffing, et toi?
J’ai cru repérer une autre erreur, et aussi une contradiction dans la partie preflop, mais je posterai ça demain plutôt, là commence ma rude session :slight_smile:
