Salut !
Hi, everyone,
As a staff member at Everest Poker, I’m reluctant to post in a forum on most topics because chances are I’ll just get flamed regardless of how helpful I intend to be. However, this VIP program is brand new and some education should go along with it.
As far as I can see, Elrudo’s computations are correct with the ommission of one important detail. It’s never mentioned how much rake he paid in order to accumulate the « base points » needed for a cash out. In order to get a « rakeback » percentage, you would need to know how much rake was paid in the first place.
Actually, this is an arbitrary number because for those that aren’t aware, you earn Summit Points just for being dealt hole cards. Folding pre-flop does not exclude you from earning Summit Points that hand. As mentioned in the first line of his analysis, all players get 1 Summit Point per $1 raked from that hand (fractional points are awarded), regardless of whether that player contributed to the rake or not. There will be times that you are earning Summit Points for two, three, or four hands straight without contributing 1 cent to the pot (and rake).
Yes, we will no longer be giving monthly bonuses now that the VIP Program is in place. With that said, another area that we did heavy analysis on is how much players actually WERE earning as opposed to the clearing rate of the monthly bonuses that were offered. For those active players that have received our monthly bonus in the past, you’ll remember that they were lump sum bonuses. This meant that you needed to earn the target amount of Summit Points that month in order to get your bonus…or you got nothing. You may be surprised to know that a majority of our players were NOT hitting the goals and therefore received no money that month for their efforts (0% rakeback equivalent).
At the other extreme, our higher-end players might have earned their monthly bonus during their first week of play that month. But, most didn’t just stop playing after they hit their bonus goal. Most continued to play thoughout the month, still paid rake for the other three weeks and got nothing for it. So, although the clear-through rate for the bonus might have been at a good « rakeback » rate, they seem to forget all the additional play they had that month after they hit their goal and got nothing for it. That, in itself, severely brought down their overall « rakeback » rate for that month.
Again, I’m not intending to challenge the calculation posted in this forum thread. But I did want to mention that because of our Summit Point system, what one person pays in rake to earn a given amount of Summit Points is not the same as what another pays to get there.
Plus, with this new VIP program, you are no longer given « goals » to hit each month and have a « hit or miss » chance to get bonus money each month. Now you can cash out your Summit Points earned for extra cash whenever you want. You can do this daily, weekly, or monthly (up to the monthly max) or you can save your points up over time and cash them in one large sum.
Also, keep in mind that one of the few times we do give our players an IBA (Incremental Bonus Award) Bonus (at a rate of $1/14.28 Summit Points) is with our Welcome Bonus. This Welcome Bonus is still available to all new players. It did not get replaced by our VIP Summit Point Program.
While we realize that getting extra cash is most important to our players, I should also mention that participants are eligible for a range of other new benefits, such as freeroll access, Priority Customer Service, and an increased Refer-A-Friend bonus.
In closing, we looked at the data available to us and found that this system will actually give our players MORE bonus money to earn over time, not less. You’ll be able to earn bonus money at any time, over any amount of time, with no « hit or miss » goals and with bonus money being available continuously without any « downtime » while you wait for your next monthly bonus.
Hope this all makes sense and that I didn’t offend anyone. Otherwise, flame away
